Havelock's iconic green lip (green shell) mussel restaurant.
Casual and informal. The restaurant specialises in green lip mussels but also has a variety of New Zealand seafood, burgers, pastas, gluten free and vegetarian options all perfectly matched with famous Marlborough & Nelson wines and New Zealand and local craft breweries beer. Produce is fresh and local using sustainable, free range and organic where possible.
Great outdoor seating through summer.
What our visitors say about our restaurant.
I went here for lunch after having friends at work recommend it and I absolutely loved it.
I had the grilled mussels and had a combination of all the flavours and every single one was lovely. There was 16 mussels and 4 of
each flavour. It was great and the mussels were huge!! Would definitely go again and would definitely recommend it.
Don't drive past this place . . .
Best mussels in the world. Huge bowl for a very reasonable price, many different ways to try them. Other great dishes available if for some ridiculous reason you do not like mussels. Highly recommended.
Best green lip mussels
Excellent mussels and great service! A definite must for mussel lovers if in the area. We did enjoy the basic version (wine, garlic and herbs).
Lives up to its reputation.
Highly recommended for – of course – green lip mussels but also for other fish dishes. We returned for a second helping a few days later. Their own label sauvignon blanc complements the food very well. Do book as it was very busy.
Holidayed in NZ for 4 weeks March/April 2015 the mussel's here were by far the best in the South Island and that is saying something
as we ate out a lot! We had the tasting plate as an entrée, I'm salivating as I write.... The mussel's were enormous and the
different flavours awesome. Friendly and informative staff (we stayed next door at the Garden Motel it was really nice). We ate at
the Mussel Pot because of a recommendation and on reading all the reviews it was a must do. We specifically went to Havelock to eat
here, the staff were in awe of the chef and manager who is very focussed on the best ingredients.
